Who we are
Specialised Oilfield Services is an independent, Australian-owned company based in Perth, Western Australia. We started as a coring optimisation business while developing the SureCore technology — auditing and overseeing coring operations on behalf of major operators — and that experience led us to purchase our own coring equipment and become a full-service coring contractor.
How we work
We understand that experience and accountability are the keys to successful coring operations. We conduct our business with honesty and integrity, keeping the best interests of our clients a priority at all times. We invest in developing and supplying unique technologies focused on the coring problems we've seen first-hand — SureCore™ was designed and developed entirely by our local team. SureCore has been independently assessed by DNV.
Australian Government support
The Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation and Science signed an agreement to support SureCore™ — an integrated, real-time coring and Measuring While Drilling system — to assist with advancing local technologies and companies. The grant was used to support the Accelerating Commercialisation of the SureCore project. After intensive review, SureCore was deemed to have sufficient capability of becoming a successful product for the oil and gas industry and Australian business.

One complete package.
SOS is, to our knowledge, the only coring service provider able to combine a full conventional coring system with real-time SureCore downhole measurement — a system we designed and own.
Proven equipment.
We core using Baker Hughes systems, core heads and consumables, and follow the same inspection, maintenance and operating standards. Our core barrels go to the Baker Hughes workshop for make-up, break-out and inspection before every mobilisation.
SureCore technology.
SureCore is a unique advanced core monitoring system that uses MWD technology to monitor live coring during a coring operation. The information is used to adjust coring parameters, indicate a potential jam or washing, or confirm core is still entering the inner tubes.
Experienced people.
Our team has worked for and with every major coring company, and has cored offshore and onshore for over 25 years across Australasia, PNG, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Because the principals and leads own the company, we understand the importance of accountability and the success of each project.

Perth office and workshop, with Australian and international engineers. SureCore was designed and developed entirely by local personnel in Perth, Western Australia.
