The tools that set SOS apart — including SureCore™, which we designed, developed and own.

SureCore™ real-time coring technology
SureCore was designed by coring and MWD personnel to overcome an industry issue of knowing — or not knowing — when a core has jammed off. Its development has seen the tool advance from core level monitoring alone to understanding what is happening to the core and equipment down hole in real-time.
The latest generation adds dynamic sensors for inner barrel rotation, vibration and temperature. Downhole data is pulsed to surface in real-time and is also recorded throughout the run and the trip, so nothing is lost.
Why it matters: coring has always depended on an experienced engineer interpreting surface data — and even the best engineer can pick a jam that isn't there or miss one that is. SureCore removes the guesswork. The result is less lost time, less lost core and fewer damaged cores. It consistently improves core recovery and de-risks coring in general.
What operators and coring engineers have told us:
- "It's like an insurance policy when conducting coring operations"
- "We only see benefits running this tool with no downside"
- "It could save us from redrilling a formation due to not losing the coring data"
- "Run longer coring assemblies with confidence we won't mill away valuable core"
- "Provides confidence to attempt connections and continue coring"
SureCore can be run with Baker Hughes, Halliburton, NOV and Reservoir Group coring systems.

How it works

Jam mitigation — JamBuster™
A jammed core usually means an unscheduled trip out of hole. SOS runs the Baker Hughes JamBuster anti-jamming coring system, whose concentric inner core barrel sleeves automatically telescope if a core jams, allowing coring to continue without interruption. The multi-jam activation system provides up to three jam-offs before coring has to be terminated.
Combined with SureCore's real-time jam detection, this is the most complete jam-management approach available to an operator today.
